Terrain Adaptive Landing Gear

Compact deployment, pull actuated shock absorber, terrain adaption.

Terrain Adaptive Landing Gear for a Lunar or Planetary Lander.

We developed a very small packaged, deployable landing-leg-system with pull-actuated shock absorbers and a novel terrain adaptability mechanism for planetary, lunar or asteroid bound landing vehicles. The main objectives are to limit deceleration and avoid rebounding by being able to absorb a certain threshold of momentum that might residue after engine cutoff. Furthermore the leg-system shall be lightweight, stowed in a minimal volume, able to cope with uneven terrain and ensure a save stand after landing.
